Soi 16 and Marine Plaza Photos
This is the third page of this walking tour. If this is the
first page you have seen you may like to have a look at the
Walking Street introductory
page for this tour before continuing.
From the position where the last page stopped we have no
back-tracked a little to the intersection of Soi 16 and Walking
Street. At this intersection there are a few bars on the right
side of Soi 16 and onto Walking Street. A little past these on
the same side you can find the Covent Garden complex.
The Covent Garden complex comprises a good number of gogo
bars and open-air bars. There are a few good places to have a
beer and be entertained so it is worth coming to this end of
Walking Street.
This end of Soi 16 is a little quieter than the rest of
Walking Street but that doesn't mean that it isn't worht going
to. You'll find that the charactor of the sois off Walking
Street is differnt than the main drag. You tend to to see many
of the package tour tourists that are common on Walking
Street.
By law the food carts are not allowed to trade on
Walking Street at night. During the day there is too much
traffic and space is restricted. There for the sois off Walking
Street are the place to find them. You'll find many carts on
Walking Street starting at about 3:30am. They flood onto
Walking Street at about the same time as the road opens to
traffic.
The photo below shows the signs for the gogo bars of
the Covent Garden complex.
Just a bit further along you can find many beer
bars.
This photo is taken in the same place as the last but
looking backwards.
You'll see many motorbikes parked in this area. At
night space is at a premium.
If you remember back to Soho Square and Wildcats Bar
this photo shows a path from Soi 16 to that area.
The bars give way to different typs of business for a
while.
But first a couple of beer bar signs.
If you ever feel the need there ar places offering
short time rooms in this general area,
Now Soi 16 really changes character! we are now
entering an area commonly know as the Arab Quarter. Like the
name suggests it is where Arab people come to enjoy the
delights of Pattaya.
There are many business catering these people and indeed
some ofthe businesses are owned by Arabs.
No mistaken it!
Like I said motorbikes everywhere.
The below photo shows a beer bar complex in the area
known as Marine Plaza. These bars cater to Arab customers. If
you walk through this area at night we would do well to have
some hearing protection. There are very few areas in Pattaya
that consistantly plays the music so loud.
Another complex similar to the last.
During the daytime the bars are quiet in this area but
at night it is different.
You can find many businesses selling all sorts of
stuff in this area, particularly at night.
The area has many food carts which are popular with
the Thai girls
There is at least one live music venue in the area.
There are also a couple of discos.
There is also at least one gogo bar to check out.
The next page contains photos of Soi Lucky Star and Soi
Diamond.
