Soi 7 Photos (Part 2)
This is the second page of this tour. If you
have arrived here you may like to go back to
the introductory page of the Soi 7 and 8 tour.
The Second Road end of Soi 7 has a few good
places to eat. The Pig and Whistle offers English style food
along with a Thai selection. A little further along from The
Ping a Whistle Rose O' Gradies offers a similar menu. Both of
these places are British theme bars
However, Soi 7 is still dominated at this end by bars.
The next photo looks back towards Beach Road.
You may notice that the soi has a real
mangle of signs. I don't think the Thai regulate such
things.
There is a second soi that connects Soi 7
and Central Pattaya Road. This soi is also lined with small
beer bars. On the eastern side there are a couple
beer bar complexes.
One of the beer bar complexes is called
Swing Town. The small soi that runs through it is an L-shaped
soi that ends on Soi 7. There is a photo later showing the
other end of this soi.
Some of the decorations on this soi are Chinese
looking
Anywhere you go in Thailand you will see
these small shrines. More correctly they are called spirit
houses and they are not related to Buddhism. They are a Brahman
tradition. They are provided by the Thais for the land spirits
to live in. The Thais call on these spirits for good luck and
for providing them with things like winning lottery numbers.
The spirit house can vary from a simple wooden
structure to very ornate large structures depending on the
building they are associated with. While it acceptable for
people to drink and eat offerings, once the spirits have had
their fill ,it is probalby best not to interfere with
them if you don't understand them.
Here you can see the other beer bar complex on the corner of
Central Pattaya Road
Looking back towards Soi 7. At the very end is the Sunshine
Hotel on Soi 8.
There are a number of hotels in the area. If
you want to stay in a lively convenient area then it is worth
considering the Soi 7 and 8 area. Flipper House is a popular
place to stay. Don't get it confused with Flipper lodge on Soi
8. They are both owned by the same company.
See how many bars you have to choose from??
This is the other end of the small soi that runs through
Swing Town.
Another spirit house.
The bars continue on towards Second Road.
This is a closer look at Flipper House.
Anna Jet Bar is one of the larger bars on
Soi 7. If you are in the area it is worth checking out.
Much of the Thai language and all of it's
main religion (is Buddhism) originated in India. You can
see similarities everywhere.
Anna Jet Bar is very close to Second Road.
Like everywhere in Pattaya there is some construction on
this soi.
Sexy Agogo is one of the gogo bars on soi 7.
This photo looks back down Soi 7 to Beach Road.
You can buy all sorts of things from hawkers on both Soi 7
and Soi 8.
The Soi 7 sign at the corner of Second Road.
Just a few photos of second Road before
skipping back to the corner of Beach Road and Soi 8.
These first 2 look towards Walking Street (ie
south)
Then a couple looking north.
That Blue sign is the intersection of Soi 8.
